Tushar Talukdar

Dr. Tusar Talukder is an Associate Professor of English at Central Women’s University, Dhaka. A theatre critic by passion, he has been teaching courses on Modern British Drama and Postmodern American Theatre for the past twelve years at various universities across Bangladesh. Alongside his academic work, he regularly writes columns on theatre and literary theory for newspapers at home and abroad, engaging a wide readership with his critical perspectives.
Dr. Talukder has published eight books, twelve research articles, and hundreds of articles in newspapers and little magazines, reflecting his prolific contribution to literary scholarship and public criticism.
Literary Musings, his first book in English, is a collection of essays and book reviews that reflects his intellectual range and literary sensibility. He has also authored a book of essays titled Shabdachitra, further showcasing his engagement with literary criticism and reflective prose.
In addition to his critical and academic pursuits, Dr. Talukder is a distinguished translator, having translated and published seven books from the literatures of Latin America and South Asia. Notably, he has translated The Outsider by Albert Camus and selected short stories of Gabriel García Márquez into Bangla, contributing to cross-cultural literary exchange.

His scholarly interests are further exemplified by his doctoral research on the poetry and drama of Pablo Neruda. He has also written a research article on Joaquín Murrieta, the only play authored by Neruda, demonstrating his deep engagement with Latin American dramatic literature. His academic contributions further include critical writings on the Expressionist plays of Eugene O'Neill, highlighting his interest in modernist and experimental theatre traditions.
Dr. Talukder has co-edited Conversation with My Unborn Child by Marzia Lipi in collaboration with Syed Manzoorul Islam, reflecting his active involvement in contemporary literary projects. He also served as the Executive Editor of the periodical Translation, contributing to the promotion of translation studies and global literary dialogue.
In his role as a literary columnist, he has extensively reviewed and analyzed works by prominent scholars such as Professor Abdus Selim, Professor Fakrul Alam, Professor Abdul Hai Siddique, and Dr. Babul Biswas, contributing significantly to contemporary literary discourse in Bangladesh and beyond.
He is currently working on a manuscript that offers a comparative analysis of South Asian and Latin American theatres, further consolidating his position as a scholar of global dramatic traditions.
